We’ve all heard of Blue Apron. I myself heard about it for years before I finally tried it.
I’m somebody who’s wastes hours walking around a grocery store, looking for ingredients that I don’t need.
So I figured, Blue Apron would be perfect for me.
And it was nice…for a bit.
They sent you the exact amount for each recipe. and they give you exact step by step of how to do it. It was convenient.
Until it wasn’t.
I only got two meals delivered a week. And that builds up way too quickly when you’re a busy person.
Even though each meal says it takes a half hour to 20 minutes to cook, I think they’re referring to professional chefs who have excellent knife wielding abilities.
Me, not so much. I wield a knife as if my arms are an elephant’s trunk and I’m holding the knife six feet away from my nose.
I mean, sure the meals were tasty. And it was nice to cook things that I wouldn’t normally cook.
But after a couple months of this I realized that they always send different variations of the same ingredients.
And they stopped sending beef all together. I mean if you’re not a vegetarian. If you’re vegetarian it’s not a big deal, obviously. But I didn’t sign up to pay $60 a week to not even get beef.
Not to mention their customer service is not good. They sent me the wrong meals. They ignored my dietary preferences. And it took them a long time to reply to my email. I tried to call them, but they were too busy to take calls.
I think they’re overwhelmed right now with extra new orders from the lockdowns. However, I’m suspect, even when those surplus people cancel, just like I have, their service will remain subpar.
